RE: Arizona Options

Interesting thread. We have been to AZ two of the last three years but found anywhere north of Phoenix pretty darn cold in Jan. and Feb. is that the norm or am I just unlucky? Had health problems last winter so we couldn't go down but the two years before as I said were cold. Tell me more about prospecting. I think that sounds like something I would like to do. Any web sites or places to get info for a rookie? Thought about getting a metal detector to start. Good or bad idea? I don't think I want to get so involved to have to haul equipment around. all suggestions would help. Thanx......Rick The main factor for warmth is the elevation. We go to Yuma because it is the lowest elevation, therefore the WARMEST. Paul

RE: What has happened to...................

Political correctness has made it possible for idiots to act like idiots, and those of us who disapprove of their anti-social behavior aren't allowed to speak out against it because it may deny them the right to their personal expression. Well said Andy. Paul

RE: Park Activities

pawatt, you hit the nail on the head. 3 fellas got together in Yuma a couple of winters ago, 1 guitar, 1 sax, and a drummer. Play 50,60, and some 70's. It harder than heck to get tickets at the parks where they play. We winter in Yuma and I have never heard of these three. Can you supply more info? Paul

RE: Guthrie, Oklahoma Best Western with RV Sites

We have stayed in the motel a few times. The WiFi was poor about three years ago, but they have since increased the signal. I don,t know if the signal is good in the RV area. The continental breakfast is very good. I checked out the RV area and it looks very good for overnighting. Also, for you golfers, just west of Guthrie(2 or 3 miles) is FIVE 18 hole golf courses all owned by the same guy. Its golfers paradise. Paul

RE: I-65 stole my beer

Does your brand come in cans? If not, change brands. I never had a can break on me. :B If your frig has metal racks the constant bouncing WILL wear a hole through a metal beverage can. Had it happen a few years back. Paul

RE: Cost of Oil Change

My operators manual states to service every 15 thousand miles OR once a year; whichever comes first. We only drive about 5 or 6 thousand miles in a year. I plan to stretch the "one year rule" in the future. PaulPaul, I would reconsider stretching the 1 year rule, until after your drive train warranty is expired. Good point. I will rethink. Thanks Paul

This is off topic, but be aware that the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is on. Campgrounds are FULL and everyone is charging very high prices for everything. Paul

RE: Cost of Oil Change

Just had our coach serviced at the local Freightliner dealer. The cost included oil and filter change, lube job, fuel filter change, and a new air filter. The total cost was $388.00. The air filter was about $90.00. They did not service the generator. They get $85 per hour for truck work and $105 for RV work. RE: Is anyone slowing down to get better mileage

We have been driving ALL of our vehicles at 55 MPH for the past three months. The fuel savings is significant. I do realize that many people have limited leasure time, but when one is retired, longer travel time can be dealt with much easier. The hardest thing to get used to is 98 percent will pass us. Paul

RE: I am a lepidopterist.......

.....what am I? Paul I do voluteer work at the Sertoma Butterfly House in Sioux Falls SD. I work two hour shifts in the flight room. It is one of the most rewarding things that I have ever done in my life. The look on peoples faces when they enter our rain forest filled with live butterflies is a very rewarding experience. Its a must see when in Sioux Falls. Paul
